BMW announce Formula One withdrawal
BMW 在今年賽季結束因為財務關係將中止參加F1,將會在週三發佈消息。這個變動是BMW所稱為"里程碑"決議中的一部份,BMW將重新劃分他們的摩托活動。
The news came at a press conference held at the company’s German headquarters in Munich, attended by BMW Sauber team principal Mario Theissen, along with Dr. Norbert Reithofer, the chairman of the BMW board, and Dr. Klaus Draeger, the director for development.
這項消息是由在德國慕尼黑總部舉行的記者會上發佈,主席者有BMW Sauber車隊總管Mario Theissen、同行的有BMW董事會主席Norbert Reithofer博士和發展主管Klaus Draeger博士。
BMW became Formula One entrants in 2006 after taking over the Swiss Sauber team. The company said the decision to withdraw stems from a desire to dedicate more resources to developing new, sustainable road car technologies.

“Of course, this was a difficult decision for us,” explained Reithofer. “But it’s a resolute step in view of our company's strategic realignment. Our Formula One campaign is thus less a key promoter for us."

Massa awake and progressing well
醫師週一晚間在布達佩斯告訴記者Massa 正慢慢復原中,已經從昏迷狀態甦醒並且拿下氧氣罩了。這位受傷的法拉利車手已經可以和家人和醫護人員說話了。

Massa suffered a fractured skull during Saturday’s qualifying for the Hungarian Grand Prix, after being hit by a spring from another car. He was flown from the Hungaroring circuit to the AEK military hospital where he underwent emergency surgery.
"He is still sleepy, but has been able to reply to questions and has been able to move his limbs adequately," continued Zsiros, who went on to explain that it was likely to be at least a week before doctors could be sure that Massa has avoided lasting injury, though he stressed that a full recovery was possible.

Responding to reports of potential damage to Massa’s left eye, Zsiros said it was too soon to confirm or deny this as the Brazilian is not yet able to open the eye sufficiently to allow for his vision to be examined. This should change over the next few days.

The Hungarian Grand Prix Preview - Brawn look to shake Red Bull's dominance

It’s also quite low-grip which makes overtaking particularly tricky.

Q&A with Toyota's Timo Glock

Q: Tell us about your podium in Hungary last year.
Timo Glock: It was a really special moment for me to be on the podium in Formula One for the first time, and it was great to be fighting right at the front. Everything came together and it worked out perfectly. It was the race immediately after my accident at Hockenheim so maybe it surprised some people to see me being so competitive. But the truth was that Hockenheim was a turning point because we got the car really working well for me. After that, the fantastic result in Budapest was the start of a great run in the second half of the season.
Q:談談你去年在匈牙利站上頒獎台的心情。
Q: What did it mean to finish on the podium for the first time in Formula One racing?
TG: I really enjoyed that feeling; it's what I have worked so hard to achieve all through my career. When I left Formula One at the end of 2004 I knew it would be really tough to get back but I never gave up and I gave everything in Champ Cars and GP2 to get my chance. But getting back to Formula One was just the beginning and it was a great moment to stand on the podium in Hungary after finishing second. That gave me a lot of satisfaction and I really liked the feeling. I am determined to do it many more times!
TG: It was the best result of last year but I was also very proud of my performances in several races, particularly finishing fourth in Singapore and Canada and some other races where the result maybe wasn't as good but I drove really well. This year I was on the podium again in Malaysia so that is one of my best performances as well; it's always a highlight when you finish on the podium.
Q:你第一次上頒獎台的體驗是否比今年這次特別?
TG:某種程度上來說第一次上頒獎台的經驗是更特別的,因為那是不同的經驗,沒有其他事可以相比。但是當你發揮到極限並且拿到很好的成績,那感覺也是很棒。我在馬來西亞拿到的第三名也是很棒,因為那是在車隊努力下驚人的成果,而且我確定我下次上頒獎台的經驗會一樣的特別。
TG: I have always been quick there, right from my first visit in 2004 when I was a Formula One test driver taking part in Friday practice. I was on the pace from the first session and that continued when I went back in GP2. I was second and fifth in 2006 but I was really unlucky the next year because I qualified on pole but there was a wheel problem at my pit stop which ruined my race, then in the sprint race I was fighting for the podium before a mechanical problem. So in terms of results Budapest has been average for me but I have always been competitive there. It's just a fun circuit which is quite challenging for a driver;
TG: I hope so! It's quite tricky to judge before Friday practice. We have made a big improvement on slower corners in the past few races which is quite encouraging going into the Hungarian Grand Prix. It is usually pretty hot in Hungary as well and our car has good cooling efficiency so that should work in our favour. So I am reasonably optimistic our car will go well but we'll have to wait and see.

TG: My goal this season is simply to score as many points and podiums as possible. I don't have specific goals in the way I did for 2008, when I wanted to get 20 points and finish in the top 10 of the drivers' championship. My second place in Hungary started the ball rolling and I achieved both my targets. This year I just want to be as quick as possible from race to race, scoring as many points as I can. So far we have had some ups and downs but it is mainly positive.

Faultless Rossi holds Lorenzo off for Sachsenring win
Valentino Rossi was never under any illusions that he would have it easy in his defense of the MotoGP world title, and once again the Italian was made to fight for glory at the Alice Motorrad Grand Prix Deutschland. The Fiat Yamaha rider took the win at Sachsenring by just the smallest of margins from persistent rival Jorge Lorenzo in a breathtaking race to extend his lead in the World Championship.

After starting from pole for the first time at the German track, Rossi took the lead of the race after thirteen laps. Both the Italian and teammate Lorenzo eked out an advantage to make it a two-way battle to the chequered flag, with a last lap battle reminiscent of the Barcelona round of the series one month ago. Rossi’s definitive pass had come at the end of the home straight with two laps to go, and he brushed off the young pretender’s overtures for his fourth win of the 2009 season.

Starting from eighth on the grid, Dani Pedrosa had established his credentials in the dry with the best lap in the morning warmup. Horner: Vettel and Webber to get equal treatment

But while championship leader Jenson Button may hope to gain from the Red Bull duo taking points off each other, Red Bull team principal Christian Horner insists the team won’t favour one driver unless a clear title favourite emerges.

Webber and Vettel will be back in action for the team at next weekend’s Hungarian Grand Prix, which will take place at Budapest’s Hungaroring from July 24-26.

Todt to stand for FIA presidency
法拉利前經理Jean Todt已經證實他將參選FIA主席,FIA 是F1賽事的管理者,主席的人選將在今年稍晚的時間透過選舉產生。
Current President, Max Mosley, announced on Wednesday that he will stand down in October from the post he has held since 1993. Mosley has endorsed Todt’s candidacy.
現任的主席Max Mosley在週三宣佈他將在十月(引咎)下台,自1993年之後他一直擔任主席一職。Mosley也贊同了Todt的參選。
“I think he would be the ideal person to continue but to also extend the work of the last 16 years,” said Mosley of the 63-year-old Frenchman in a letter to the FIA’s member clubs. “He can be relied on in all areas where the FIA is active. I very much hope you will give him your support.”

Todt has named New Zealander Brian Gibbons and Britain’s Graham Stoker as his preferred vice-presidential candidates and has proposed American Nick Craw, currently deputy president (sport) of the FIA, for president of the FIA Senate.
"I am confident that together we will offer the FIA the opportunity to elect a dynamic leadership team of outstanding experience and commitment," Todt added.
At last weekend’s German Grand Prix, ex-world rally champion and former member of the European Parliament, Ari Vatanen, also announced he is to run for the post.

Rossi describes 100 Grand Prix wins
When Valentino Rossi reached 100 Grand Prix victories with his superb win at Assen less than two weeks ago it was a true landmark moment in a special career, with only one other rider having ever achieved the same feat – the legendary Giacomo Agostini.

Rossi celebrated his century of triumphs in The Netherlands by unfurling a huge banner featuring a photo montage of his journey to yet another remarkable milestone. A week later at Laguna Seca motogp.com was with him as he described the highlights of his career.

Commencing his description by looking back at the early stages of his career in the 125cc class, he said, “The first victory was after 11 or 12 races I think, in Brno. This is for sure one of the most special moments because the first victory was something unforgettable. It was a great battle with (Jorge) Martinez and I will remember that day for my whole life. I just had one victory in 1996 but it was not bad for a rookie!”

On his first 2001 victory in Japan – win 29 of his career in the opening race of the year at Suzuka – which led to his third World title and his first in the premier class, Rossi commented, “That was a fantastic season with 11 victories and the third World Championship for me. The first win of the year at Suzuka on the 500cc Honda was a brave victory. Then there were more great races that season and at the end of the year I won the championship and I had my photo taken as you can see with Mick Doohan and Franco Uncini.”

On his historic 2004 campaign, in which he became the first rider to take back-to-back victories in the premier-class riding machines from two different manufacturers and only the second rider to win back-to-back premier-class titles on different machinery, the Italian star stated, “In 2004 I moved to Yamaha and I think my 60th win is the best one because to win on my debut with Yamaha was unbelievable and very exciting.”

On his superb championship winning season last year Rossi added, “It was a great season in 2008, as we had changed a lot, changed tyres to Bridgestone. China was the first win of the year, which was very important, then there was Le Mans and Mugello with a fantastic helmet. After Mugello there was Laguna Seca and a great battle with Casey (Stoner), where I overtook him on the Corkscrew corner and that was a turning point of the year.”

The Doctor concluded, “The 99th was an unbelievable battle with Jorge Lorenzo at Catalunya with a great overtaking move on the last lap. So then we arrive at the end, and Assen, 100 victories, not too bad! We hope to continue this banner with some more victories!”

Raikkonen rules out a Ferrari win in Germany

“Realistically this year our objective can’t be a win,” said Raikkonen on Ferrari’s official website. “We still have to make up ground compared to the leaders as far as performance is concerned. It’s always difficult making predictions and promising something to the fans, but for us today a place on the podium is already a good result, considering that we’ve been there just once this year.

At the previous round, June’s British Grand Prix, the Finn qualified in ninth and finished one place higher in eighth to score a point. But after crossing the line over a minute down on the victorious Red Bull of Sebastian Vettel, the Italian team had little reason to celebrate and have been back at their Maranello factory seeking to improve the errant F60 ahead of this weekend’s German event.

De Puniet content to extend top ten run
Randy de Puniet’s 2009 campaign continues to be a stark contrast to his crash-affected 2008 season, and the Frenchman kept his LCR Honda satellite RC212V upright again on Sunday – unlike several of his MotoGP rivals, with only 12 riders crossing the finishing line at Laguna Seca.

Looking back over Sunday’s 32-lap race, which he commenced from 14th on the grid, De Puniet remarked, “I am quite satisfied as it was hard to expect a better result starting from the fifth row on this ‘up-and-down’ track. I struggled with grip problems from Friday and we tried to make some adjustments but in the end the bike was not at 100%. My start was not brilliant and I hit some traffic in the first few laps, but after that my rhythm was good enough to pass a few riders.”

He went on to say, “We decided to go for a softer rear tyre which was a good choice for the beginning of the race, but grip from the rear tyre dropped with ten laps to go. Still, this is another productive result for me and the team as I am sitting in ninth place in the championship.”
